Public relations

PR is a very discreet form of marketing, one that can often not be detected by the average Joe. It is also a very cost-effective way to build interest, intrigue and awareness.

Where advertising is telling people you’re good, PR is getting someone else to say you’re good. A third-party endorsement from a trusted source (TV, radio, online, blog or print outlet) is infinitely more powerful than a full page ad. It’s all about the angles. And we’re masters.

"The Undertow team are incredibly responsive and efficient, and present very well-considered ideas and fresh thinking, which is so important.  Their depth of media insight and knowledge is excellent, and we're very much valuing having their input on a variety of projects."

- Kate Porter, Head of Communications & Community, Countdown Woolworths

At its core it’s about news - and newness. It needs to come first or in absolute tandem with advertising (why would a radio or tv show talk about it if it’s been seen on billboards all across town?). A ‘money can’t buy’ experience, public service or opportunity also helps.

If your product or service has a legitimate story and wants to build trust and gain mass advocacy - PR is for you.

Our role is to use your story, package it up and sell it in to a powerful third party (that is the media) with access to potentially millions of consumers, to talk positively about your product or service.

To excel at PR, you need to have something to say (we can help with that don’t worry), then use experts who are tenacious, charismatic and confident to cut through the hundreds of comms sent out per day by your competitors.

You will likely have different audiences - and what we do is help you tweak the messaging to reach every single one of them.

You then rely on our connections in the tv and print newsrooms, with radio DJs and producers, with online editors and writers and with bloggers to build out a story that provides value to their readers.
